KB Freeze Food Products Plant in Kamianka-Buzka

The KB Freeze Food Processing Plant in Kamianka-Buzka is a modern facility capable of freezing 60 tons of products per day

KB Freeze is one of the largest and most advanced shock freezing plants for berries, vegetables and fruits in Ukraine. For this facility, Koriel Group designed, manufactured and commissioned an industrial refrigeration system using the natural refrigerant R744 CO₂. This is the first food freezing plant in Ukraine fully designed around a CO₂ refrigeration system, meeting modern European requirements for energy efficiency, environmental sustainability and operational safety.

The plant features a complete industrial cooling and freezing solution with a freezing capacity of up to 60 tonnes of products per day. The refrigeration system ensures reliable operation of the Unidex fluidised bed freezing tunnel, freezer rooms, cold storage chambers and warehouse facilities with a total capacity of 4,500 pallet spaces. The system maintains the required temperature conditions for long-term frozen food storage without compromising product quality.

CO₂ Refrigeration System for a Shock Freezing Plant

Koriel Group manufactured and installed Magnus Ice and Magnus Red compressor refrigeration stations for this project. These industrial refrigeration units operate on R744 CO₂ and provide cooling for the IQF freezing tunnel, cold rooms, air coolers and frozen product storage areas.

The use of the natural refrigerant CO₂ significantly reduced operating costs, improved the energy efficiency of the facility and eliminated the need for conventional Freon-based refrigeration systems. This is especially important for modern shock freezing plants, frozen food warehouses and food processing companies that operate according to EU standards.

Project Scope and Implemented Solutions

  • Design of an industrial refrigeration system based on R744 CO₂
  • Manufacturing of Magnus Ice and Magnus Red compressor stations
  • Installation of refrigeration equipment for freezer rooms and cold storage warehouses
  • Integration of the Unidex fluidised bed IQF freezing tunnel
  • Automation and remote monitoring of the refrigeration equipment
  • Commissioning and adjustment of the cooling and freezing system
  • Integration of refrigeration equipment for a warehouse with 4,500 pallet spaces

Cold Storage Facilities and IQF Freezing Tunnel

KB Freeze uses IQF (Individual Quick Freezing) tunnel technology, allowing berries, vegetables and fruits to be frozen rapidly while preserving their structure, taste and nutritional value. The facility includes a Unidex fluidised freezing tunnel, a shock freezing system, optical sorting, metal detection and modern cold storage warehouses for finished frozen products.

The plant has a freezing capacity of 60 tonnes per day and up to 3,000 tonnes of simultaneous storage. The cold storage warehouse is designed for 4,500 pallet positions, enabling efficient handling of large volumes of frozen food products and ensuring continuous logistics operations.

Project Result

The implementation of this project demonstrates Koriel Group’s expertise in the design and production of industrial refrigeration equipment, CO₂ refrigeration systems, shock freezing solutions, cold rooms and food storage warehouses for the food processing industry.

Thanks to the use of R744 CO₂, the KB Freeze plant received a modern, environmentally friendly and energy-efficient refrigeration system that complies with international standards and ensures stable year-round operation.
